There are certain guys in your life who should never get over you. Ever.

• There’s the high school sweetheart (who also was partly the college sweetheart).
• The crush from National Honor Society who actually called from Europe to see if you were attending the class reunion.
• The guy you knew you would marry at first glance (especially when saw his picture when he was five in his Halloween costume and then dated two and a half years) and then didn’t.
• The guy who actually proposed and, in some cases, the guy you actually married.

There are others:
• Your brother’s best friend.
• The waterskiing accountant who was absolutely perfect for you.
And,
• Even the secret crush who has no idea he is your secret crush - for good measure.

These guys by mere obligation should never, ever get over you.
And when they do, it’s devastating.
